THE VIXEN RV

The Vixen RV was designed by Bill Collins (of GTO and DeLorean fame) and manufactured by Collins' company from 1986 to 1989 in Pontiac Michigan. Like the DeLorean, the Vixen has an iconic design that turns heads and makes people smile wherever it is seen.

The early Vixens were underpowered by a BMW 2.4 liter M21 turbo diesel. The M21 was not the first choice of Collins... but last minute supply issues or other problems left Mr. Collins with no choice, as his specifications called for at least 30MPG.

A fix for the lack of power and overheating, especially when climbing grades and in high ambient temperatures, has been a legendary quest for Vixen owners to fix. There have been countless fixes attempted, from new 'low' first and second gears, to special water pump pulleys and radiator 'scoops', and even dual radiators. There is even some 'secret coolant additive' proposed by one owner. None of these fixes make the Vixen perform as it was originally intended.
